Roses compete with the peonies to claim the title of garden queens. Our collection of roses is carefully curated for you to withstand most winter conditions expected in USDA zone 5. Growing on their own root systems, even if the winter should be too much for the plant above ground, the roots are likely to survive and regrow true to type!

From the hardy shrub roses to the more delicate English-style roses, protection against the harshest winter winds is advised to avoid substantial winter die-back. I have had an English rose for over 25 years in my USDA Zone 5 garden. It returns every year from it's roots to put on the most wonderful display of flowers by mid-summer lasting until the last leaves fall in the autumn.
