'BOSC' Pear (Pyrus x communis 'bosc')

The 'Beurre Bosc' or 'Bosc' is a cultivar of the European pear, originally from France or Belgium. Also known as the Kaiser Pear. It ripens later than most other pears helping to extend the pear season in your orchard well into late-September or October. Slightly acidic and pleasantly spicy, 'Bosc' achieves its sugar and flavor before the pear begins to soften. This makes 'Bosc' an excellent choice for road-side stands and they do not suffer bruising and soft spoilage as some other varieties do when ripe. 'Bosc' is an excellent kitchen pear serving nearly every need from stewing, baking, roasting, and preserving. An excellent winter storage selection.
USDA Zones 4-9.
NOT Self-pollinating. Consider 'Bartlett' as a pollinator for 'Bosc'.
Available in 7-gallon pot.
