'FRAGRANT BLUE' Plantain Lily (Hosts x 'fragrant blue')

'Fragrant Blue' was the very first hosta exhibiting true blue foliage and fragrant blooms. It was quite unique in the horticultural world then, and it remains so to this day! Its chalky-blue, heart-shaped leaves are thick and sturdy—slugs don't present much of a problem—and thanks to its tendency to produce new foliage, it holds its attractive coloration throughout the long growing season. Mid to late summer brings arching sprays of soft-purple blooms with a light fragrance. Ideal for brightening shady borders or walkways, as a ground cover between trees, or in a mixed shade garden. Perennializes well.
