'GENOVESE BASIL' (Ocimum basilicum)

The 'Genovese basil' comes with 100 organically certified seeds per packet. This plant prefers full sun, rich garden soil, and frequent watering. Sow in the spring in a seedbed or pots. Barely cover seed, tamp securely and keep evenly moist and in the light until germination, which takes about a week. Thin or transplant to 1 foot apart in full-sun only. Harvest prior to flowering. 

The traditional basil of Genoa, and the necessary type for true 'pesto Genovese'. Basil grows best in the warm, long, sunny days of summer.
