'IMMACULEE' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'immaculee')
'IMMACULEE' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'immaculee')
A peony with a sweet appearance and an even sweeter fragrance! 'Immaculee' is a staple in the perennial border for its reliable and dependable early mid-season performance. Routinely blanketed with flowers carried on strong 36" stems, 'Immaculee' sports Japanese-form flowers with guard petals that open blush and mature to an immaculate white. The guards surround a prominent cluster of fringed cream staminodes, which also mature to white. Rose-pink stigmas produce a pleasantly surprising contrast in the center of the flower. Flower form can be quite variable unfurling a spectrum ranging from Japanese to anemone providing extra visual interest when covered with flowers. Fragrance is excellent and produced in abundance by a profusion of flowers. Plants demonstrate good vigor and are loaded with side buds, extending the bloom period. LIMITED QUANTITY! (van der Valk/Van der Zwet, 1953).
