'KOUSA' Korean Dogwood (Cornus kousa sp.)
Couldn't load pickup availability
Korean Dogwood, is a stunning, flowering tree or multi-stemmed shrub that typically grows 15’ tall and in perfect conditions up to 30 feet. Blooms in late-spring after the leaves unfurl. Flowers are followed by berry-like fruits which mature to a pinkish-red in summer and persist into fall after leaf fall. Fruits are edible, but are usually left for the birds. Oval, pointed leaves turn attractive shades of reddish-purple to scarlet in autumn. Mottled, exfoliating, tan and gray bark on mature trees is attractive in winter. This dogwood is far less fussy than the native 'Flowering Dogwood' and more reliable in the Northern zones. Very responsive to full-sun, drier locations where the native dogwood suffers. If you've always want dogwood but were afraid to try it, this is the choice for you.
