Extra petals give this elegant, semi-double form of our Western native more imposing stature and impact. Being sterile, the blossoms of Camassia leichtlinii 'Semiplena' are unusually long lasting, both in the garden and in vases. The creamy petals develop rich-Ivory shades as they age.
This small American genus of bulbous plants produces long, straight stems bearing dozens of small, star-shaped flowers in varying shades of blue, cream, and white. Unlike most bulbs, Camassias prefer winter wet and will prosper in damp sites. Camassias flower in late-spring, a time when most Daffodils and Tulips are gone, but the full glory of June perennials still lies ahead.
