'MEADOW ARNICA' (Arnica chamissonis)

The 'meadow arnica' has 30 organically certified seeds. This creeping herbaceous, North American perennial thrives in moist, acidic, loamy soil in full sun to part shade. This plant does well in the loose soil of a raised bed and can also be grown in containers. In the spring sow seeds in pots or flats. Barely cover seeds with soil, tamp securely, and keep moderately warm, evenly moist and in the light until germination, which takes 1 to 3 weeks. Transplant to 1 foot apart. Grows up to 1 foot tall. 

This delightful perennial is native to the Northwestern States and Provinces of the US and Canada. It will grow from 3' to 5' and bloom from late spring through fall. Plant Meadow Arnica in areas that may be a bit too wet for other perennials. It is a valuable wetland plant that while not native to the Eastern US, is a functional and reliable addition to your insect garden or perennial border.
