'MARENGO' (Gladiolus dalenii x 'marengo')

A favorite of our Dutch bulb experts, newcomer 'Marengo' is a striking burgundy-red variety that bears a creamy-yellow spot near the center of each big, beautiful floret. It's quite an eye-catching coloration, especially in full sun where glads prefer to grow. Butterflies are huge fans of these glads, due both to their bold color and ample number of 4" florets per stalk. 'Marengo' grows 4-5 feet tall and makes an excellent architectural focal point along fences, sunny foundations or back borders. Stagger planting times at two-week intervals for continued blooming throughout mid to late summer.
