'NELDA'S JOY' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'nelda's joy')

Light shell-pink, 6-inch, semi-double to fully-double, flowers adorn this early-season peony. The flower-in-flower form of this blossom is unique for this blooming period and petal color. Well-rounded guard petals with various amounts of toothed edging surround the outer rows of inner petals, themselves surrounding golden-yellow stamen. These stamen surround the inner flower which appears as a lovingly tended delicate rose bud with a most pleasant fragrance. It is very difficult to articulate just how extraordinary this blossom is. These very productive plants are composed of 32" stems bearing only a single blossom each. Early mid-season blooming. (Hollingsworth, 2012).
