'ORANGE CALENDULA' (Calendula officinalis)

'Orange Calendula' comes with 50 organically certified seeds per packet. This annual plant is native to southern Europe. Barely cover seed, tamp securely, and keep evenly moist till germination which takes 1 to 2 weeks. Flowers occur in 40 to 50 days. They love cool temperatures, good garden soil, and regular watering. In the early spring, sow in pots or directly in the garden. Thin or transplant 6 to 12 inches apart. They grow up to 18 inches tall. 

'Calendula' is used in traditional herbal medicine for wound healing and skin health. It is purported to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits. A tea made of the flower petals has a pleasant taste and beautiful color and can be used to add color to other herbal teas. An oil can be extracted and it often included in topical skin preparations.
