Euphorbia pulcherrima were first introduced in the US from Mexico in 1828 when the ambassador to Mexico, Joel Poinsett, discovered the plant in the wilderness of southern Mexico. By the 20th century the red and green leafed 'Poinsettia' as the plant was now named, became synonymous with Christmas due to its strong red and green color scheme. When white Poinsettias were bred with red Poinsettias, the pink Poinsettia was born. Like all Poinsettias the pink color floats on top of a leafy green backdrop.
Soft-pink is the color of innocence and playfulness. It’s a color that brings people back to their childhood. Imagine coming home and finding a lovely pink Poinsettia waiting for you. Pink is the flush of first love, and stands for nurturing femininity. A pink Poinsettia is a perfect gift for that childhood friend you have not seen for awhile, a new love you can’t wait to get to know better, or for Mom who is there getting everything ready for the holidays. Pink is personal. It is a smile, and that is why a pink Poinsettia will make you smile. No better way to say "let’s be happy this holiday season" than with a pink ‘Poinsettia’.
