'AMERICA' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'america')

Paeonia 'America' is widely considered to be the finest single red-flowered peony ever introduced. This very vigorous 1976 Nathan Rudolph hybrid is an early mid-season peony that produces an abundance of exceptionally sturdy stems, each topped with lightly fragrant, single red flowers accented by a central bouquet of yellow stamen. Paeonia 'America' was awarded the American Peony Society Gold Medal in 1992 and the Award of Landscape Merit in 2009...a true winner! For a patriotic combination, consider planting of Paeonia 'America' with the white-flowered Paeonia 'Miss America'. (Rudolph/Klehm, 1976).
