'BARTZELLA' Itoh Peony (Paeonia x intersectional 'bartzella')

YES! 'Bartzella' is a true-yellow herbaceous perennial peony and is as exciting today as it was when it won the American Peony Society Gold Medal in 2006. Its huge, lemon-yellow blossoms shine in the landscape on a substantial bush. It turns heads wherever it is featured. Very large, bright, nearly-perfect-yellow, semi-double blossoms with a slight red center stain stand above the lush, dark-green, deeply-dissected foliage. Flowers have a pleasant, spicy scent. Blooms late mid-season. An especially vigorous plant with sturdy flower stems that do not require staking. Recipient of an APS 2009 Award of Landscape Merit for superior landscape qualities. VERY LIMITED QUANTITY. (Anderson, 1986).
