'Cheddar Surprise' is a mid-season, semi-double, white herbaceous peony. Its pure-white, rose-shaped flowers are sprinkled throughout with golden petalloids and staminoids. 'Cheddar Surprise' is exceptionally fragrant with excellent, dark-green, disease-resistant foliage. Stem length averages 34 inches and seldom needs staking even when blossoms are fully unfurled. Extremely cold hardy. Very limited quantities. (Klehm, 1980).
