'Duchesse d'Orléans' is an heirloom peony cultivar first registered in 1846. The large, fully-double, bomb-type blossoms have deep-pink guard petals that surround rich-salmon petaloids cast with a violet sheen. These medium to large blossoms are held above dense clumps of dark-green foliage to 36" tall. The fragrant flowers, which appear from late-spring into early-summer, make for an excellent cut display. May need staking when in full flower. (Guérin, 1846). Heirloom.
