'FIRST ARRIVAL' Itoh Peony (Paeonia x intersectional 'first arrival')
'FIRST ARRIVAL' Itoh Peony (Paeonia x intersectional 'first arrival')
7" blossoms open rose-pink then lighten gracefully as the flower ages. The center of the flower has dark-rose color contrasts with a nest of yellow stamen. Petals are slightly ruffled and look as if they are made of silk. 'First Arrival' is an excellent grower with beautiful foliage on sturdy 30" stems. While this peony does quite well as far south as USDA growing zone 9, it should have more shade there than required in the north. Itoh peonies are early bloomers and 'First Arrival' is aptly named being one of the earliest among Itohs. LIMITED QUANTITY. (Anderson, 1986).
Zones 4-9

My First Arrival peony arrived carefully packed and had 5 good eyes. Hopefully I’ll get at least one bloom next year and lots afterwards.
