'Le Cygne' blooms fully-double, very large, ivory-tinged white, blossoms that become pure-white as they matures. Moderate fragrance. Medium height stems are generally stiff but occasionally lax at the base. It's best to plan on adding support or use for gorgeous cutting-stems. Foliage is large, dark-green and broad. The blossoms are composed of overlapped, in-curving petals, and its compact form make this one of the most perfect of peonies. In perfect growing conditions, 'Le Cygne' is the pinnacle of quality and perfection in a white peony. But there are some seasons when it is not up to standard. Likes a heavy clay soil. When well grown and well shown, no other peony can compare with it. (Lemoine, 1907).
