'NEMEAN LION' Peony 'Paeonia x lactiflora 'nemean lion')

Early-blooming, 7-inch, SEMI-DOUBLE, upward-facing, red flowers average one per stem. The frilled guard petals soften the visual edge of this solidly presented blossom. Plants reach 40" at maturity, and carry broadly-pointed, green foliage with undertones of purple. Growth habit is solidly upright and mechanical support is unnecessary. Named for the vicious monster that lived at Nemea in Greek mythology, 'Nemean Lion' is no shrinking violet. Introduced in 2022 by Joshua Scholten.
