'QUITZIN' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'quitzin')

'QUITZIN' has massive 10" globe-shaped flowers composed of a single row of outer petals forming a cup that embraces centers stuffed with alternating layers of light-yellow buttercream and champagne hued petals and petaloids. The guard petals are tinged with peach at the bases and green blotches that fade as the bloom opens fully. Blooms have a refreshing minty fragrance. This variety is a bit wild with inconsistent blossom shapes and coloring but definitely worth growing for whimsy alone! If you are planning to use this in the perennial garden you should be prepared to support your blossoms. If cutting, be sure to harvest after buds begin to expose their crinkled petals so flowers will fully open. 'Quitzin' has good tall stems and attractive foliage, very heavy roots, is floriferous, fragrant, and a tetraploid hybrid. Mid-season. (Fawkner, 2001). Very Limited Quantity.
