'Reine Hortense' is a very large, mid-season, rose-pink peony with crisp, fluffy petals of translucent texture. The petals are notched and silvered at the tips and occasionally flecked with crimson in the center. This selection has a fragrance reminiscent of cloves. Tall and free-flowering with strong 42' stems and foliage, 'Reine Hortense' has a bold, handsome, flat-flower of unusually fullness for its type. Color fades as the flower matures. Introduced in 1857 and making fans ever since! (Calot, 1857). Heirloom.
