'CROWN IMPERIAL' Kaiser's Fritillary (Fritillaria x imperialis var.)

Native to the various lands associated with KURDISTAN, the Crown Imperial Fritillary has warmed its way into most European and many North American gardens. Its unique whorl of pendulous florets atop a 2 to 3 foot stem make it a favorite in the perennial garden. Classically yellow, Crown Imperial also comes in a tangerine-orange which is hard to beat for spring warmth. Both Rubra Maxima (orange-red) and Lutea Maxima (golden-yellow) reward the gardener when placed in a rich, deep soil with plenty of sunshine and summer heat. Neither wants to be disturbed and both will easily perennialize and slowly multiply into stunning clumps of flowering stems.
