'LUSTROUS' Peony (Paeonia albiflora x lobata 'lustrous')

An heirloom from the Saunders collection. 'Lustrous' remains hard to find which is surprising given its many superior attributes. Intense scarlet-red blossoms open over an extended period of time providing bursts of early season color in the peony bed. Semi-double, very-large bomb flowers are help above sturdy 36" stems. The contrasting golden-yellow stamen provide welcome relief to all that vermilion! (Saunders, 1942). Heirloom.
