This spectacular red, 'Mackinac Grand', has earned both a Gold Medal and Award of Landscape Merit from the American Peony Society. Its large semi-double, blood-red blooms feature ruffled petals that keep their brilliant color even in hot weather. The sturdy 36" unbending stems carry lustrous dark-green foliage and matures into a large, wide bush that stays relevant throughout the growing season. Blooms early mid-season. (Reath, 1992).
