This vigorous heirloom variety from France was introduced in 1888. 'Monsieur Jules Elie' craves attention and he gets it with big, beautiful, double-ruffled flowers reminiscent of his exotic Japanese brethren. Likely to flourish and deliver his showy, fragrant bloom through a century of springs. 'Monsieur Jules Elie' produces large, fully-double, bomb-type flowers measuring 8" across and smelling like roses. Light rose-pink with silver-hued center petals and light-green foliage keep this selection popular. Tall stems may need staking as the blossoms are heavy. Blooms early for such a large flower.
