'OOCHIGEAS' Itoh Peony (Paeonia x intersectional 'oochigeas')
'Oochigeas' produces boatloads of gorgeous, rounded and fully-double, blooms in unexpected, smoky-color combinations. The exquisite double-blooms of this prized Itoh peony are a beautiful fusion of creamy apricot-pink petals painted with purple flares that mellow into lighter mauve. The blossoms appear in late spring on a medium-sized bush. Lush foliage will keep its handsome appearance in the perennial garden all season, even after blooming. Height to 35". One of the better Itohs for cutting. EXTREMELY RARE AND EXTREMELY LIMITED IN QUANTITY.

The name of this beautiful peony pays homage to Oochigeas, a legendary Native American figure; the heroine of a 19th-century fairy tale affiliated with the Mi'kmaq, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy and Abenaki tribes, described as a fusion between the French Cinderella story and ancient Wabanaki folk tales.
