'Roy Pehrson's Best Yellow' is an early-flowering, single, herbaceous, garden peony. The soft-yellow petals are slightly fluted and cupped embracing a thick bed of golden-yellow stamen at the showy center. Flowers are of good size and borne abundantly. Medium height topping out at 32", good stems, and luxuriant, dark-green foliage. An excellent garden peony not needing any support and a favorite of bees and other pollinators. Vigorous. A Champlain Peony Company favorite and a best-performer for those of you on the warmer edge of peony cultivation. Hard to find. (Pehrson/Laning, 1982).
