'BOB' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'bob')

'Bob' is an early mid-season, semi-double herbaceous hybrid peony. Blossoms are a dark cocoa-red, full-double, and fragrant. Younger plants will tend towards a Japanese-style blossom shape. The inner petals are often tipped in white. The large bloom are easily held up on 30" strong, stiff stems. Excellent foliage deserves a prominent position in the perennial border. Similar in color to 'Hot Chocolate' but the flowers are a bit more robust. Chosen by Bob Tischler as his namesake and Best In Show-2011 American Peony Society. (Tischler, 1989). Extremely limited availability.
