'CONCUBINE YANG COMES OUT OF BATH'' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora '杨妃出浴-Concubine Yang Comes Out of Bath')

'CONCUBINE YANG COMES OUT OF BATH'' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora '杨妃出浴-Concubine Yang Comes Out of Bath')

杨妃出浴; Yáng fēi chū yùConcubine Yang Comes Out of Bath.

'Concubine Yang Comes Out of Bath' is a white herbaceous hybrid peony from the city of Heze, (formerly named Caozhou), Shandong Provence, People's Republic of China. This region of China has been cultivating 'Mudan' (peonies) for over three thousand years! Champlain Peony Company is pleased to present this lovely 'King of Flowers' from China's ancient peony capital in very limited edition. The name 'Concubine Yang Comes Out of Bath' is as close an English version of the traditional Chinese 杨妃出浴 as we can determine.

This peony has not been grown in the United States long enough to establish an absolute hardiness or heat-tolerance recommendation. However, where they are grown in Shandong, China is similar to the American mid-Atlantic region with cold, dry winters and hot, humid summers. Typical winter low temps are in the teens Fahrenheit with dips into single digits and with summer temps often exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Our best guess is that USDA Zones 4-8 would be very successful zones for this peony.

Bare roots are available for shipping in late-fall and winter only.

We do not ship potted peonies.
