'EARLY CANARY' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'early canary')

'Early Canary' is a gift for those who can't have too many yellow peonies. This fully-double blossom opens light-yellow with subtle streaking of more saturated yellow maturing to a 6" blossom of exquisite substance and fullness. Held aloft 30" stems, this selection does not do well in extremely windy locations and my need staking when left in full bloom. An excellent cut-flower with staying power and fragrance. More mature plants produce more transformation of stamen into stamenoids, making an even more fully-double blossom. As the name suggests, 'Early Canary' blooms early in the season which is unusual in a saturated, fully-double yellow herbaceous peony. This is a peony that peony connoisseurs must have.
