'FULMINATA' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'fulminata')

Introduced in 2022 by Joshua Scholten. Very-early, single, scentless flowers are pink with light-pink petal edges, blurred, light-pink coloration on petal exteriors, and occasional dark-pink striations through petals as they age. 5", upward facing blossoms average one per stem. Guard petals are frilled. Plants can reach 26" at maturity, and carry broadly pointed, green foliage with undertones of purple. Growth habit is upright and mechanical support is unnecessary. A very attractive garden subject. Named for the Roman legion of the same moniker.
