'ILLINI BELLE' Peony (Paeonia chinensis x officinalis 'illini belle')

A solid semi-double blossom. Four or five rows of glossy, dark mahogany-red, rounded petals cup prominent yellow stamens and green carpels dipped in red. 'Illini Belle' stands up strong even in inclement weather. A solid performer and worthy of a prominent location. (Glasscock, 1941). Heirloom.
