紫冠玉带; Zi Guan Yu Dai; Purple Crown and Jade Sash. (Japanese: Shikangyokutai)

'Purple Crown and Jade Sash' has a unique flower shape among tree peonies. Each bud will open in the mid-season to an anemone-form, upward-facing blossom 6 to 7 inches wide and half as deep. Each chalky-purple petal has a deeper blackish-purple flare at its base. The outer two or three rows of petals are fringed and have radial striping. The inner petals are narrow and have many white stripes of varying widths giving this flower a welcoming and whimsical appearance.  The trees themselves are upright and stiff, grow at a medium rate, and are very durable and reliable.
