A semi-double, early mid-season peony with saturated, cardinal-red, 5"-6" blossoms. The blossoms hold their color throughout the bloom cycle. The center pops with yellow stamen and light-pink to white stigmas. Grows to 30" on bushes that take a while to settle in and flourish. One of the more true reds without any magenta overtone. (Sauders, 1941). Heirloom. Rarely available.
