Excited to find this variety

I planted Amabilis about a week ago, eager to see how she does in the spring. Bare roots arrived in very good condition with several healthy eyes.
I have a twin to this variety that found in my great grandmother’s garden, almost 15 years after she died in 1984. The people living in her house were kind enough to let me look around in the backyard, where my great grandmother had cultivated a vast and beautiful garden for many years. Not much was left but I found the peony! It moved with me to Mississippi, then to Portland, OR where it lived in my garden for 21 years. It has only bloomed a few time since being transplanted but enough for me to identify the variety. When I moved to Virginia in 2021, of course the peony came with me! She is planted in our front yard, and the new Amabilis is planted opposite on the other side of our front walk. I’m eager to explore other varieties from Champlain Peony Company. Thank you!
