'AVIS VARNER' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'avis varner')

Introduced in 1981, ‘Avis Varner’ is a double, late-flowering peony with deep red-purple blossoms. The 36" stems are very firm and sturdy and if disbudded do not need support. This peony is very suitable as a cut flower peony in colder climates. It is scentless and a deeper red than 'Felix Supreme' to which it is compared.
