Very-early, Japanese-type peony 'Dupondius has glorious, yellow flower buds that open to 6 inch, creamy-yellow flowers, with a center overflowing with golden staminodes. When open, each petal is painted with pink flames. Occasionally the filament color base shows startling pink. 'Dupondius' has a single flower per stem making each blossom a gem. A vigorous grower with upright growth habit, attractive green foliage of broad pointed leaves on erect stems, and an average height of 36 inches. An unregistered seedling introduced in 2022 by Joshua Scholten.
