'LILLIAN WILD' Peony (Paeonia x lactiflora 'lillian wild')

'Lillian Wild' is three-quarters of a century old and still stuns the first-time observer. Very large, flat-faced blossoms open ivory-hued, tinged with a delicate, flesh-pink wash that fades to off-white. Occasional individual flowers may even have some fuchsia streaking. The transformation from bud to fully-blown flower is mesmerizing and the prolific nature of 'Lillian Wild' means there will be flowers at different stages of opening all at once creating a sea of light-pinks and ivory. 32" stems are sturdy enough to support the blossoms and make excellent cut-stems. Relatively difficult to find and seldom seen for sale. (Wild Bros., 1950). Heirloom.
