'RED CHARM' Peony (Paeonia lactiflora x 'red charm')
'RED CHARM' Peony (Paeonia lactiflora x 'red charm')
Peony 'Red Charm' is an American Peony Society 1956 Gold Medal-winning beauty with bold, fully-double, scarlet-red blossoms that stand tall on sturdy, 36" green stems. The showy flowers have a powerful rose-like scent and are quite tolerant of heat. These huge, rich-red flowers are made up of a single row of outer guard petals that surrounds an explosion of smaller and heavily ruffled central petals that keep reflexing as the flower opens. This beauty was also the American Peony Society National Exhibitors GRAND CHAMPION in 1951 and again in 1965! This stunning selection can be your garden's 'Grand Champion', too! Early-season (Glasscock, 1944). Heirloom.
